Welcome to Croftwell Consulting, the first private general medical practice in Fife, and one of the first in Scotland. This web site explains who we are, what we do, our fee structure and how you can contact us, as well as related information.
What is private general medical practice?
A private general practitioner provides medical services to patients on a direct fee-for-service basis. Although there are currently only a few private GPs in Scotland, they have been common in some parts of the country (mostly South East England) for many years. Private practice allows longer consultation times than are feasible in the NHS but the principles and practice of medicine are the same in both systems.
What I do
Like any GP, I see patients about their medical problems, arrange medical investigations, prescribe treatment and arrange follow-up care. I refer patients to hospital specialists when required, privately or via the NHS. I also do health checks, medical examinations, travel medicine and vaccinations, and minor procedures such as ear syringing.
Most consultations take place at my consulting room, but home visits are also possible within reasonable driving distance from St Andrews. St Andrews University students may also be seen at Student Services, Eden Court, The Scores.
Hours of service
My normal surgery days are Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays. Please telephone 01334 474209 if you wish to make an appointment.
